St. David's, PA...It was a successful day for The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team as the Lions first climbed into the top spot in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III poll. TCNJ then took care of things on the field as they remained undefeated with a 20-2 road win at Eastern University.

The Lions (9-0) are one of only three undefeated teams in the poll as they picked up 17 first-place votes to finish with a total of 393. Salisbury University is second with Hamilton College in the third spot.

The team's new top-ranking will face a tough test on Friday when the team heads to Gettysburg College to face the sixth-ranked Bullets. Game time is 5 p.m.

On the field, never trailed against the Eagles as the Lions ripped off the first 12 goals of the game to take
Ali Jaeger
command early. Senior Ali Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) scored three of those goals with the third coming with 19:13 left before the half. That goal proved to be her 300th career point making her the second player in program history to reach that milestone joining Lauren Dougher (2003-06). Dougher is the program's all-time leading scorer with 317 points.

Immediately after that goal, Jaeger continued her run at the scoring record setting up back-to-back goals by junior Kathleen Notos (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) and Sara Keating (Upper Montclair, NJ/Montclair) to make it a 12-0 game.

The Eagles (0-4) then netted two goals, but TCNJ got the markers back by the end of the half for a comfortable 14-6 lead.

TCNJ outscored Eastern 6-0 in the second half making the final 20-2 as the Lions continued their impressive run through the first half of the season. The 20 goals marked the fourth time they have hit that mark this season and the Lions have scored in double figures all nine games this season.

Not to be out done, TCNJ's top-ranked defensive unit turned in another stellar performance allowing just those two goals lowering its goals-against-average to 2.11 per game. Senior goalie Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) ran her individual record to 9-0 as she stopped six of the eight shots she faced.

Jaeger finished the game with nine points on five goals and four assists raising her career point total to 306 points on 227 goals and 79 assists.

Notos ran her streak of scoring four or more goals to seven straight games as she found the back of the net four times and added a pair of assists. Notos leads the team with 36 goals. Junior Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) registered five points with two goals and three assists, while freshman Lauren Pigott (Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) and sophomore Alex Spark (Harvey Cedars, NJ/Southern Regional) each record hat tricks.
