Haverford, PA...The College of New Jersey men's tennis team saw its season-opening win streak come to an end on Thursday as the Lions were edged by host Haverford College, 5-4.
The loss dips TCNJ's record to 5-1.
The Lions netted one point in doubles play as the third tandem of
Howard Telson (Edison, NJ/J. P. Stevens) and
Stewart Fernandez (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) picked up an 8-3 victory.
In singles,
Steven Fernandez (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) cruised 6-1, 6-3 in the second position, while
TJ Riley (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Moorestown) earned a 6-1, 6-3 triumph in the fifth slot.
Dan Lee (Abington, PA/Abington) picked up the team's fourth win at sixth singles winning by the identical 6-2, 6-2 scores.
TCNJ is back on the court on Sunday facing Swarthmore College in a 1 p.m. start at the Student Recreation Center.
