Orlando, FL...The College of New Jersey men's tennis team made its spring trip to Florida a very successful one as the Lions finished with a 7-2 triumph over Coe College on Monday.
The Lions won two matches in as many days as they improved to a modest 2-0 on the season after playing a couple of tournaments during the fall portion of the schedule.
TCNJ started the match taking two points in doubles play and the rattled off five more points in singles action.
The duo of
Jeremy Eckardt (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) and
TJ Riley (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Moorestown) improved to 9-1 at first doubles as they cruised to an 8-1. At third doubles,
Stewart Fernandez (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) netted the team's other win in doubles play with an 8-2 decision in the third spot.
Picking up wins in singles play were Eckardt,
Steven Fernandez (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South),
Dean Thompson (Westfield, NJ/Westfield), Riley, and
Dan Lee (Abington, PA/Abington).
