Scott Dicheck picked up his 100th career win at the helm of The College of New Jersey men's tennis program as the Lions disposed of visiting Ithaca College 8-1 on Saturday.
The win put TCNJ at 7-4 for the season, while Dicheck's career mark moves to 100-53 as he is in his 11th season.
The Lions got off to a great start claiming all three points in doubles action highlighted by the top tandem of
Jeremy Eckardt (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) and
TJ Riley (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Moorestown). That pairing won 9-8 (7-5) as they defeated Ithaca's team of Josh Rifkin and Jimmy Newton, which is ranked third in the latest ITA Northeast Doubles Rankings. Eckardt and Riley are ranked 11th in the region.
TCNJ also got wins from
Steven Fernandez (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) and
Dean Thompson (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) by the score of 8-4 at second doubles, while the final pairing of
Stewart Fernandez (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) won and
Howard Telson (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) picked up an 8-2 triumph.
In singles action, the Lions gained five more points as
Steven Fernandez,
Jonathan Yu (Hamilton Square, NJ/Steinert), Riley,
Stewart Fernandez, and
Jordan Cruz (Manasquan, NJ/CBA) each picked up victories.
TCNJ is idle until Tuesday, April 26 when they host Washington College at 2 p.m.
