Amherst, MA…Amherst College netted a 5-0 win over The College of New Jersey men's tennis team on Sunday as the Lord Jeffs advanced to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals for the third straight year.
The hosts swept all three points in doubles play and the picked up win at second and third doubles to improve to 33-1 on the season.
TCNJ capped its successful season with a record of 9-5 as they advance to the third round of the tournament.
Senior
Jeremy Eckardt (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) and sophomore
TJ Riley (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Moorestown) challenged the top pairing from Amherst, but fell 8-4. Eckardt also hung tough at first singles dropping the first set 6-4 and was tied 2-2 in the second before the Lord Jeffs notched the deciding fifth point.
