Caitlyn Jenkins (Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway) scored a pair of second-half goals as The College of New Jersey field hockey team picked up its biggest win of the season with a 2-1 road victory at Ursinus College.
The win was the fifth straight for the 15th-ranked Lions as they improved to 7-1, while the loss knocked the seventh-ranked Ursinus College to 6-2. It was TCNJ's first game against a ranked opponent this season.
Jenkins scored the game-winning goal with 8:39 remaining in the contest as classmate
Christy Wham (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) earned an assist on the play. Those two goals raised her season total to five.
TCNJ's defense then held its ground in the final moments staving off a pair of penalty corners by the Bears in the final 15 seconds.
After a scoreless opening half, Jenkins picked up the first of her two goals as she tucked the ball into the Ursinus net 5:17 into the second frame.
The Bears got that goal back 6:27 later setting up Jenkins's heroics in the final 10 minutes.
