Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey turned in a dominating performance in a 5-1 win over Neumann University as the Lions held a decisive edge in every category on Thursday.
The win elevated sixth-ranked TCNJ's record to 12-1, while the Knights fell to 2-9.
The Lions controlled play throughout finishing the game with a 34-2 edge in shots and took 26 of the 27 penalty corners. Sophomore
Erin Healy (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) played a big role in that scoring a career-high four goals, getting a pair in each half.
TCNJ dominated the opening half taking all 20 shots and coming away with three goals. Healy accounted for the first two, while senior
Jillian Nealon (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) picked the final goal of the half poking in her own rebound with 38 seconds remaining.
The second half saw more of the same with Healy tacking on two more goals with the latter being assisted by senior
Caitlyn Jenkins (Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway).
Neumann spoiled the shutout in the final minute on a goal from
Kelsey Mazur (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial).
The Lions have a key New Jersey Athletic Conference game on Saturday, heading to 16
th-ranked Rowan University at 1 p.m. TCNJ is currently in second place with a 3-1 league mark, while the Profs are a close third at 2-1.
