Rowan scores late to slip past TCNJ, 2-1

Glassboro, NJ… Rowan University's Jenna O'Sullivan scored with 8:07 left in regulation as the Profs clipped The College of New Jersey 2-1 in a showdown of conference rivals on Saturday in Glassboro.
 
The sixth-ranked Lions fell to 12-2 on the season and 3-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, while 16th-ranked Rowan leapfrogged TCNJ in the league standings with a 3-1 record. Overall, the Profs are 11-4.
 
After a scoreless opening half, both teams got on the scoreboard in the second with the Lions taking the lead first. That goal came when the Profs scored an own goal after a TCNJ from outside of the arc hit off a defender and went into their net. That came 4:38 into the second half.
 
Rowan nearly tied the game 10 minutes later, but a defensive save by Lauren Pigott (Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) protect the Lion lead.
 
The Profs did tie the game 17:06 into the half on a goal by Karlee Henderson, setting up O'Sullivan's deciding goal later in the half.
 
In goal for the Lions, freshman Roisin Dougherty (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) finished with five saves.
 
TCNJ caps conference play on Tuesday, October 16 heading to Ramapo College to face the Roadrunners in a 4 p.m. start.
