Union, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's soccer team was stunned in the final six minutes of the game as they were defeated by Kean University 3-2 in New Jersey Athletic Conference action in Union, NJ.
Trailing 2-1 in the contest, the Cougars scored twice in the final 5:32 to secure their eighth win of the season. Pat Foley scored on a breakaway to tie the game and Jose Arevalo tallied the game-winner off a feed from Foley with 1:42 remaining on the clock. The loss drops the Lions to 6-10 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

Sean Casey (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) and senior
Kevin Shaw (Brookside, NJ/West Morris Mendham) scored for TCNJ, while senior
Vince McEnroe (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) and sophomore
Kevin McCartney (Old Bridge, NJ/St. Joseph's) both assisted on goals.
The Lions struck early when Casey punched in a corner kick from McEnore at the 4:52 mark. The Cougars applied plenty of pressure as freshman
Maciej Libucha (Woodland Park, NJ/Passaic Valley) was forced to make five saves in the opening 45 minutes of play. The defense also made a team save in a scramble following a corner kick.
Kean's
Abner Denis tied the match shortly after the intermission on a shot from 12 yards out. But Shaw put TCNJ back on top with a blast from 10 yards off a feed from McCartney. It was Shaw's team-leading seventh goal of the season.
Play remained relatively even over the next 15 minutes, but the Cougars capitalized on a pair of late scoring opportunities to register the come-from-behind victory.
Libucha finished with eight saves in the game.
TCNJ is idle during the week before squaring off against New Jersey City University on Homecoming day next Saturday, October 20. The Lions will battle the Gothic Knights at 11 a.m. in TCNJ's Soccer Complex in another NJAC contest.
