Grantham, PA… Messiah College spoiled a valiant two-goal comeback by The College of New Jersey field hockey team scoring the deciding goal with less than four minutes remaining as the Falcons came away with a 3-2 win on Thursday.
The Lions (13-3) trailed 2-0 at the half, but had an exciting start of the new period when the Lions were awarded a goal as a shot from outside the arc deflected into the Falcon goal off of a defender.
TCNJ then tied things up at two thanks to a
Victoria Martin (Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) goal that came with an assist from
Erin Waller (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.). That goal came with 15:44 left in regulation.
Messiah (12-3) then netted the game winner with 3:58 left in the game on goal by Celina Nissley.
TCNJ are idle until Tuesday, October 23 when they face another tough road game at top-ranked Salisbury University.
