Purchase, NY… The College of New Jersey erupted for five goals in the first half as the Lions won their final road game of the season with a 6-1 victory at Manhattanville College on Friday.
TCNJ (14-4) started quickly as
Caitlyn Jenkins (Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway) scored 3:47 into the game and the score was followed six minutes later when
Jillian Nealon (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) picked up her team-leading 22
nd of the season.
Jenkins then set up
Camille Passucci (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) to make it 3-0 17:30 into the game. The goals continued for the Lions with
Christy Wham (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) getting the team's fourth with an assist from
Erin Healy (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan). The final goal of the opening frame came from Jenkins sending TCNJ into the break with a 5-0 lead.
In the second half, the Lions were credited with an own goal when a shot from outside the circle was deflected into the goal by a Valiant player.
Manhattanville (11-8) spoiled TCNJ's bid for shutout scoring with 7:09 left in the game.

Roisin Dougherty (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) collected the win making six saves.
TCNJ closes out the regular season on Sunday, October 28 hosting SUNY Cortland at 11 a.m. in Lions' Stadium. That start has been moved up an hour due to Hurricane Sandy.
