Lions race past Roadrunners in 163-99 win

Mahwah, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's swimming and diving team raced to victory for the second time in two days as they defeated Ramapo College 163-99 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference meet.
 
Senior Evan Paulan (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) had an outstanding meet, winning a pair of individual events. He won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.83 and also claimed the 200-fly event with a finish of 2:01.81.
 
Junior Stephen Tarnowski (Ramstein, Germany/Ramstein American) had another big day taking the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle race with a time of  1:47.82. Senior Andrew Smith (Basking Ridge, NJ/Morristown Beard) took second with a finish of 1:52.62. Tarnowski also displayed stamina in the 500-free with a time of 4:57.10.
 
Sophomore Aleksander Burzynski (Colonia, NJ/St. Joseph's) touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke, posting a winning time in 55.17. He was also a member of the winning 200-medley relay that included freshman James Shangle (Highland Park, ,NJ/Highland Park), senior Adam Schneider (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West), and junior William Kasper (Forked River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan). They registered the fastest time finishing in 1:37.68.
 
Schneider, who holds the program record in the 50-free, won that event with a time of 21.98. Shangle took first in the 200-back, posting 2:14.92 and sophomore Dennis Hall-App (Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) won the 200-individual medley in 2:07.30. Sophomore Brian Perez (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) took top honors in the 100-free with a finish of 50.11
 
The Lions will travel to Southern Connecticut University for a dual meet on Saturday, November 3.
