Ewing, NJ ….. Rowan University's nationally-ranked defense bottled up The College of New Jersey's offense as the Profs lived up to that ranking coming away with a 26-0 win on Friday.
The loss capped TCNJ's season at 4-6 and 3-5 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, while Rowan improved to 7-2 overall and 6-1 in the conference. The Profs will now sit back and await the announcement of the field for the 2012 NCAA Division III Tournament, which will be released on Sunday, November 11.
The Profs entered the game leading the New Jersey Athletic Conference and are 11
th nationally allowing only 12.6 points a game. Rowan posted its second straight shutout and third overall this season, limiting the Lions to 167 yards of total offense.
The Profs accounted for two scores in the opening half with both touchdowns coming in the second quarter. Rowan senior quarterback
Louie Bianchini (West Long Branch, NJ/ Red Bank Catholic) was involved in both throwing a seven-yard touchdown pass to
Dan Reed (Westmont, NJ/Haddon Twp.) and then connecting with
Warren Oliver (Beverly, NJ/Palmyra) on an 86-yard strike.
TCNJ's special teams blocked each extra point with
Thomas Hoppe (Manville, NJ/Immaculata) getting the first and
Jeffrey Adubato (Butler, NJ/Butler) the second.
The Profs added two more scores in the second half with the first coming via the ground thanks to
Withler Marcelin (Ocean Twp., NJ/Ocean Twp.) seven-yard run. That score came in the third quarter and
Dan Dawson (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern) kicked the point after extending the lead to 19-0.
Bianchini scored the final touchdown racing 47 yards up the far sideline and point after by Dawson concluded the scoring at 26-0.
TCNJ senior running back
Justin Doniloski (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) led all players with seven receptions and tied a Lion record for receptions in a season with 64, tying
John Aromando '86 who set the original mark in 1982. He also capped his final season with 935 yards rushing, the most yards by a TCNJ player since 1997.
On defense for the Lions, three players had huge games led by junior
Nick Bricker (Middletown, NJ/Middletown South), who had a game-high 18 tackles. Senior
Greg Burns (Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton West) capped his banner career with 15 tackles, raising his program record for career tackles to 353. The third TCNJ player to reach double figures in tackles was
Sean Clark (Mays Landing, NJ/St. Joseph's Hammonton) as he posted 11 takedowns.
Rowan's defense was led by freshman
Darren Dungee (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) as he had 16 tackles and also had an interception.
Bianchini led all players with 93 yards rushing and went 13-for-26 through the air for 178 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Daniel Dugan (Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) finished his career in a Lion uniform with his name all through the program's record book. He holds records for most completions in a game (34), attempts in the game (50), completions in a season (260), passes attempted in a season (419), and passing yards in a season (2,392).
