Ewing, NJ...The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse tuned up for its upcoming showdown with top-ranked Gettysburg College by dispatching of visiting Eastern University on Tuesday. The Lions never trailed as won the game 19-5.

The win put fourth-ranked TCNJ at 8-1, while the Eagles are 1-5.

Next up for the Lions is a home date with the Bullets, which remained undefeated at 7-0 on Tuesday with a 15-8 win against Dickinson College. TCNJ won 8-7 at Gettysburg last spring, but the Bullets rebounded from that defeat to claim the 2011 National Championship.

Against Eastern, the Lions eliminated any hopes Eastern had of pulling an upset as they scored twice in the opening 1:03 as Kathleen Notos (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) and Alex Spark (Harvey Cedars, NJ/Southern Regional) each found the back of the net.

After the Eagles cut that deficit in half, TCNJ reeled off six straight goals with Lauren Pigott (Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) getting that run started and Spark finished it making it an 8-1 contest.

Eastern netted a second goal midway through the half, but the Lions put together another six-goal run to carry a 14-2 lead into the half.

The second half was much closer with TCNJ holding a slim 5-3 edge as they tied a season high with 19 goals.

The Lions had tremendous balance as 11 different players scored goals and 13 picked up points. Spark led the way with four goals and an assist, while Notos scored three times. Pigott chipped in with two goals and an assist, while Trenna Hill (Syracuse, NY/Lafayette) and Sara Keating (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) each tallied twice.

Junior goalie Camille Passucci (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) finished with three saves for the Lions, while Kelsey Zinck (Burke, VA/James W. Robinson) had a pair.

For Eastern, Shannon Wilcox (Gorham, ME/Gorham) scored a pair of goals.
