Men's Tennis

TCNJ netters ground Sea Gulls, 7-2

TJRiley won at singles and doubles on Saturday.
Ewing, NJ...The College of New Jersey men's tennis team netted a solid 7-2 win on Saturday over visiting Salisbury University.
 
The win put the Lions at 7-3 on the season, while the Sea Gulls fell to 8-9.
 
After dropping the match at first doubles, the second team of TJ Riley (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Moorestown) and Steven Fernandez (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) breezed to an 8-0 won, while the third tandem of Marc Nichols (Lawrenceville, NJ/Princeton) and Jordan Cruz (Manasquan, NJ/CBA) doubled up their Salisbury opponents, 8-4.
 
TCNJ then racked up five more points in singles play as Riley started things off with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) win in the top spot, while Nichols posted a 6-2, 6-2 triumph in the third position. That win started a string of four straight for the Lions as Howard Telson (Edison, NJ/J.P. Stevens) won in the fourth slot, Stewart Fernandez (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) at fifth singles, and Gabe Allen (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) in the sixth position.
 
TCNJ is right back on the court tomorrow, April 15 hosting Washington College in a 2 p.m. start.
