Erin Healy (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) each scored twice as The College of New Jersey field hockey team garnered a key 5-1 road win at Johns Hopkins University on Sunday.
Top-ranked TCNJ moved to 5-0 on the season, while the Blue Jays are an even 3-3.
The Lions took control from the opening whistle scoring twice in the opening 10 minutes of the game. Healy opened the scoring 5:39 in redirecting a shot from
Erin Waller (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) and 2:09 later she netted her second of the game banging in a rebound.
Passucci made it a 3-0 with 9:50 left in the half scoring on a play that originated on a penalty corner with Waller again earning assist.
Johns Hopkins cut into that lead scoring with less than four minutes left in the half. The Blue Jays had a great chance to climb even further back into the game, but freshman goalie
Roisin Dougherty (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) stopped a penalty stroke.
TCNJ mirrored its start to the game in the second half with Waller scoring 7:37 into the fresh period and Passucci picked up her second of the game 3:39 later.
Dougherty finished with three saves for her fourth straight victory.
In addition to her goal, Waller also chipped in with three assists.
The Lions return to New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Tuesday, September 18 at Kean University at 7:30 p.m.
