Junior Tiffany DeTulio scored a season-high 14 points for the Lions.
Box Score
Doylestown, PA… Delaware Valley College scored a pair of field goals in the final two minutes and then held off a pair of game-winning chances by The College of New Jersey women's basketball team to come away with a narrow 59-58 win on Thursday.

The Aggies (5-6) got a field goal from Eireann Anastasi (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert) and then a 3-pointer from Emily Soper (Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove) to take a 59-56 lead heading into the final minute of the contest.

A bucket by TCNJ's Candace Vigo (New Brunswick, NJ/New Brunswick Health Science Technology) made it a one-point game with 40 seconds left, but a pair of key steals by Jess Lynch (Newtown, CT/Newtown) gave the ball back to the Lions. Each time, however, Delaware Valley defense held their ground forcing TCNJ to misfire on both of those chances and hold on for the win.

The loss knocked the Lions to 8-4 on the season.

Things we close in the early going of the opening half with four ties in the opening 5:26. The last tie came on a Jessica Goldbach (Edison, NJ/John P. Stevens) free throw and her second put the Lions in front by an 8-7 score.

TCNJ protected that lead and even added to it taking its biggest lead of the frame at 28-19 when junior Tiffany DeTulio (Colts Neck, NJ/Colts Neck) drained a 3-pointer with 6:52 left on the clock.

The Aggies would pull closer by the break, but the Lions still led on the scoreboard by the score of 34-30.

Balance on the offensive end of the floor has been a key part of the team's success and the Lions once again put that on display as all nine players who checked into the game scored. DeTulio led that group with a season-high 14 points, including a 4-for-9 performance from behind the 3-point arc, and sophomore Kelly Roddy (Belmar, NJ/St. Rose) also reached double figures with 10. Lynch had her most balanced game of her young career with eight points, six rebounds, four steals, and three assists.

Soper recorded a double-double for the Aggies with 22 points and 13 rebounds.

The Lions return to New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Saturday, January 5 heading to Rutgers-Newark to face the Scarlet Raiders at 6 p.m.
