Montclair, NJ…The College of New Jersey saw its 10-game winning streak come to an end as the Lions fell at Montclair State University 2-1 on Friday in a showdown of nationally-ranked teams.

The loss was the first for the eighth-ranked Lions since August as they are now 10-2 overall and it dropped their New Jersey Athletic Conference record to 3-1. The win pulled the second-ranked Red Hawks into a tie for first place in the conference standings with TCNJ, while they are 12-1 overall.

The hosts opened the scoring 18:49 into the game on a goal by Arielle Galgano and then extended that margin to two in the second half on a tally by Stephanie Lewis with just under 12 minutes remaining.

The Lions continued to battle and cut the deficit in half as
Mikayla Cimilluca (Fairfield, NJ/West Essex) netted her first of the season in the final minutes.
