Box Score
Gettysburg, PA… The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team overcame a three-goal deficit in the second  half at Gettysburg College, but the hosts responded by scoring three of the game's final four goals as the Bullets held on for an 11-10 win over the Lions on Wednesday.

Close games between the two programs is nothing new as they have played four one-goal games since 2009, with the other two meetings during that time coming by two and three goals. The win by Gettysburg snapped TCNJ's modest three-game winning streak against the Bullets.

Fifth-ranked Gettysburg (6-0) remained undefeated with the victory, while the seventh-ranked Lions dropped to 4-2.

TCNJ trailed 8-5 with just over 20 minutes to go in the second half when the team gained some momentum. Jen Garavente (Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) made it a two goal game cashing in on an assist from   sophomore Erin Waller (Washington Twp., NJ/Washington Twp.), while junior Lauren Pigott (Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) made the difference one with a successful free-position attempt.

Senior Alex Spark (Harvey Cedars, NJ/Southern Regional) tied the game with an unassisted marker with 10:07 on the clock and then gave the Lions the lead less than two minutes later converting on an eight-meter shot.

The Bullets then scored three goals in a span of less than two minutes to regain the lead at 11-9.

Spark drew TCNJ to within a goal with 1:11 left in regulation, but Gettysburg was able to gain control of the ensuing draw and run out the remaining time.

Gettysburg opened the game scoring the first two goals with senior Jillian Nealon (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) getting on the board for the Lions 6:25 into the game and cutting the deficit in half.

The Bullets got that goal right back, but Waller again pulled the Lions to within one minutes later.

After the hosts scored consecutive goals, TCNJ scored two of the final three before the break with Garavente and Waller each scoring. Gettysburg led 6-4 at the half.

Junior goalie Kelsey Zinck (Bristow, VA/James W. Robinson) recorded a career-high 12 saves.

Spark finished with four goals for the Lions, while Garavente had two goals and two assists.

TCNJ remains on the road this Saturday, March 23 heading to Eastern University to face the Eagles in a 1 p.m. start.
