Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team raced to its third straight victory as the Lions posted a 15-2 triumph over Manhattanville College on Thursday night in Lions' Stadium.
TCNJ has now won three straight to improve to 7-2 on the season, while the Valiants fell to 1-8.
The Lions scored all 12 goals in the opening half with senior
Jillian Nealon (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) scoring four of them and assisting on three others, while classmate
Alex Spark (Harvey Cedars, NJ/Southern Regional) also scored four times as TCNJ had a commanding 12-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, TCNJ held a modest 3-2 edge with junior
Jen Garavente (Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) scoring twice for the hosts and Nealon adding the final goal.
Junior
Kelsey Zinck (Bristow, VA/James W. Robinson) three saves to earn the win in goal for TCNJ.
In goal for Manhattanville,
Kirsten Shaughnessy (Le Center, MN/LeSuer-Henderson St. Peter) topped the Valiants with seven saves
Nealon led all players with five goals and three assists and Spark had five points on four goals and one assist. Garavente chipped in with four points, while sophomore
Erin Waller (Washington Twp., NJ/Washington Twp.) had three.
Nealon was also pivotal in making sure TCNJ had possession of the ball, recording a season-high eight draw controls.
TCNJ is idle until Tuesday, April 2 when the Lions resume New Jersey Athletic Conference play at Rowan University.
