Longmellow, MA... The College of New Jersey men's tennis team fell in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament to host Amherst College as the Lord Jeffs advanced with a 5-0 win over the Lions in Longfellow, MA.
The loss brought an end to one of the most successful seasons in school history as the team went 15-2. Those 15 wins are the most since the 1989-90 season when the Lions set a program record with 16.
Third-ranked Amherst (28-8) advances to the third round of the tournament set for Saturday.
The Lord Jeff took all three points in doubles play, with TCNJ's second pairing of
TJ Riley (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Moorestown) and
Jack August (Medford, NJ/Home schooled) playing well, but coming up just short 8-6.
Amherst won in the other two doubles spots and secured the final two points at first and third singles.
