Doylestown, PA…The College of New Jersey women's basketball team dropped a 55-53 decision to Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA. on Monday night.
Â
The setback was the second straight on the road for the Lions, who fell to 11-4 on the season. The Aggies improved to 10-5 overall and stretched their modest winning streak to three straight.
Â
Senior
Tiffany DeTulio (Colts Neck, NJ/Colts Neck) led TCNJ with 14 points. Junior
Kylie O'Donnell (Magnolia, NJ/Sterling) added 10 rebounds, while senior
Kelly Roddy (Belmar, NJ/St. Rose) finished with nine points in the game.
Â
Delaware Valley was led by
Brittany Wood, who tallied a game-high 15 points and grabbed eight boards.

Â
The first half was tight throughout with eight lead changes and a pair of ties. The Lions gained some separation from the Aggies midway through the period with a modest 8-0 run that turned a 16-15 deficit into a 23-16 lead. O'Donnell started the run with a free throw before Roddy netted back-to-back buckets with the latter of those coming from behind the 3-point arc. Freshman
Kate Amato (Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) capped things off with a lay-up on an assist from
Jess Lynch (Sandy Hook, CT/Newtown). That bucket came with 7:59 left in the half.
Â
TCNJ maintained that lead the rest of the half with Amato scoring a conventional 3-point play in the final minute to send the guests into the break protecting a 29-22 lead.
Â
A 10-0 run in under three minutes after the break propelled the Aggies to a 39-37 lead. The Lions maintained composure as they responded with a 9-0 run. DeTulio led charge with a jumper, layup, and 3-point field goal as TCNJ pushed back ahead 46-39 with 8:30 remaining.
Â
DelVal would not go quietly as they rattled off the next seven points. Free throws by
Brenna Coll and Wood staked the Aggies to a 51-49 lead. Roddy nabbed her third steal of the game and raced in for a layup to tie the game with 37 seconds on the clock. An
Agatha Drozd basket off a feed from Coll enabled Delaware to regain the lead.
Â
West knocked down a free throw to draw within a point, but Wood hit both of her foul shots with 14 seconds left in the game to go up by three and seal the victory.
Â
The Lions return to New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, January 22 with a 6 p.m. tip-off at William Paterson University.
