TCNJ cruises past Albright

Ewing, NJ... The College of New Jersey field hockey team scored five times in the opening half as the Lions went on to post a 7-0 win over Albright College on Thursday.

The win put third-ranked TCNJ at 10-1 on the season as Albright fell to 1-10.

Senior Lindsey Hatch (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) had a big game for the Lions with three goals and an assist, while joining an elite club in the process. With that seven-point performance, she became the 18th player in program history record 100 career points. The forward reached that milestone in 31 games on 39 goals and 22 assists.

The goals came at a fast pace for the Lions in the opening 10 minutes as the netted three in the first 7:34 of the game. Sophomore Jaclyn Douglas (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) opened the scoring 1:40 into the contest with an assist from Hatch and then sophomore Danielle Andreula (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) made it 2-0 just over five minutes later.

Hatch then made it 3-0 just 55 seconds after Andreula's goal with senior Erin Healy (Spring Lake Heights, NY/Manasquan) setting up the score.

TCNJ added two more goals 1:10 apart with Healy getting the first of those scores and Hatch adding the last of the period with an assist from sophomore Lexi Smith (Florence, NJ/Florence Twp.).

In the second half, Douglas netted her second of the game and Hatch put the finishing touches on her third hat trick of the season.

TCNJ goalies Kelly Schlupp (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) and senior Amanda Krause (Richboro, PA/Council Rock North) combined on the shutout with Krause registering the lone save.

In goal for Albright, Gabby Frake (Bristol, PA/Bristol) made 16 saves.

The Lions are idle this weekend and return to the field on Tuesday, October 7 for a road contest at Eastern University.
