Senior Insert

Ewing, NJ... The College of New Jersey field hockey team won for the 21st straight time at Lions Stadium as the Lions edged visiting Juniata College 1-0 on Sunday.

Fourth-ranked TCNJ is 16-1 on the season and have won all eight home games this season. Its current winning streak at Lions Stadium dates back to the 2012 season.

The win sets up a showdown for the top seed in the upcoming New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament when the Lions head to Rowan University for the season finale on Saturday, November 1. Both teams are a perfect 5-0 in conference play and have locked up a home game for the semifinals, but the winner of Saturday's game will earn home-field advantage throughout the tournament.

The loss dropped Juniata to 11-5.

The game also marked the final home game for six talented seniors. That group was honored in a brief ceremony prior to the start of the contest. Recognized were Erin Healy (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan), Marissa Pennypacker (Mullica Hill, NJ/Cresskill), Erin Waller (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.), Lindsey Hatch (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.), Victoria Martin (Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) and Amanda Krause (Richboro, PA/Council Rock North).

Following a scoreless opening period, the only goal came 5:26 into the second half when Hatch scored on a shot from just inside the top of the circle. That goal was her team-leading 26th of the season. It also raised her season point total to 71, becoming the third player in program history to record at least 70 points in a season.

Sophomore Kelly Schlupp (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) and Krause shared the shutout without having to face a shot.

In goal for the Eagles, senior Julianne Jones (Middleburg, PA/Midd-West) was busy, registering 13 saves.
