Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey men's tennis team earned an 8-1 win over Muhlenberg College on Friday as the Lions as they continue the stretch run of its season.
The win elevated TCNJ's record to 9-5 on the season, while the Mules fell to 2-7.
The Lions round out the regular season on Wednesday, April 23 hosting Stevens Institute of Technology at 3:30 p.m.
Against the Mules, the Lions swept doubles with senior
Howard Telson (Edison, NJ/J.P. Stevens) and sophomore
Pierce Cooper (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) getting things rolling in the top spot with an 8-2 win. The tandem of freshman
Mike Stanley (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) and sophomore
Billy Buchbinder (Scotch Plains, NJ/Wardlaw-Hartridge) won by that same score in the second position and the duo of and junior
Andrew Grossman (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) and sophomore
Dan Presuto (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris) rounded things out with an 8-0 victory.
Cooper garnered another win in singles play in the second slot as the Lions won the final five spots. Also winning in singles were Presuto, Stanley,
Ezra Klemow (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood), and Grossman.
