Baltimore, MD... The College of New Jersey field hockey continued its strong start by picking up another solid road win on Sunday as the Lions handled Johns Hopkins University by the score of 7-0.

The ninth-ranked Lions moved to 5-0 on the season as they open New Jersey Athletic Conference play this week at Ramapo College. That game is set for Tuesday, September 16 and is slated for a 4 p.m. start.

The loss squared Johns Hopkins' record at 3-3 for the season.

The shutout was the second in the last three games for Lions and the have scored at least seven goals in all five games played.

TCNJ got off to a great start scoring three goals in the first 10 minutes with senior
Erin Healy (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) starting things 2:49 into the game. That goal came with an assist sophomore
Lexi Smith (Florence, NJ/Florence Twp.)Â
Smith was also involved in the team's second goal 8:08 into the game as senior
Victoria Martin (Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) produced her first of the year. That goal was assisted by Smith and like TCNJ's initial tally, it came on a play that started on a penalty corner.

Martin made it 3-0 1:34 later when she knocked in a rebound on a shot taken by sophomore
Danielle Andreula (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt).

The Lions added one more goal before the half as Healy cleaned up a rebound. That goal gave TCNJ a 4-0 lead at the break.

TCNJ had an even better start in the second half bumping the margin to 5-0 after only 53 seconds had expired. Smith received a penalty corner and dribbled the ball into the circle where she ripped a shot for her second goal of the game. Senior
Lindsey Hatch (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) picked up an assist on the play.

Hatch made it 6-0 with 19:36 showing on the clock as she deposited her ninth of the season into the Blue Jay goal.

The final goal of the game came on a penalty stroke with sophomore
Jaclyn Douglas (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) cashing in with 11:39 remaining.

Kelly Schlupp (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) and
Amanda Krause (Richboro, PA/Coucil Rock North) combined on the shutout with Krause registering two saves.
