WILKES-BARRE – The College of New Jersey visited King's College on Wednesday night. The match started with a 9-9 tie until TCNJ won five straight bouts en route to a 34-12 victory.
With the win, the Lions, ranked sixth nationally in the NWCA Division III Poll (link below), improved to 2-0 while King's slipped to 1-3
TCNJ won seven bouts in the dual sporting three pins, one technical fall, two major decisions, and one decision. Third ranked Antonio Marcella posted an 11-3 major decision over King's top wrestler
Howard Kilpatrick, seventh-ranked
Nick Herring won by technical fall over
Hilton Martin, and tenth-ranked
Dan Wojtaszek won by fall in 1:21 over Bill Burger.
Earlier in the day the National Wrestling Coaches Association released its second poll of the year. TCNJ is ranked sixth as a team and has four wrestlers ranked in the top 10. This is the first time since 2004 that the Lions have had more than three wrestlers ranked in the country.
