Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey opened the spring portion of its schedule with a convincing 9-0 victory over visiting Vassar College on Saturday.
 
The win put the Lions at 1-0, while the Brewers dropped to 3-2.
 
The Lions swept all three points in doubles play and then ran the table in singles, earning the other six points. 
 
Sophomore Pierce Cooper (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and sophomore Billy Buchbinder (Scotch Plains, NJ/Wardlaw-Hartridge) won 8-6 at first doubles and the tandem of sophomore Jack August (Medford, NJ/Home Schooled) and sophomore Jason Prezant (Montvale, NJ/Pascack Valley) earned an 8-5 triumph in the second slot. TCNJ completed the sweep in doubles as the third pairing of freshman Chris D'Agostino (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) and freshman Sean Fernandez (Emerson, NJ/Bergen Catholic) outlasted their Brewer counterparts, 9-7.
 
The Lions sealed up things in singles with six straight as Cooper, August, Buchbinder, D'Agostino, Fernandez and junior Dan Presuto (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris) won their matches.
 
TCNJ is back on the court against next Saturday, hosting Dickinson College at 1 p.m.
