Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey men's tennis team got off to a fast start in doubles and then carried that momentum into singles play as the Lions handled visiting Ithaca College 8-1 on Sunday.

The win elevated TCNJ's record to 9-2 on the season.

TCNJ was perfect in doubles, scooping up all three available points from the Bombers. The top team of juniors
Pierce Cooper (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and
Billy Buchbinder (Scotch Plains, NJ/Wardlaw-Hartridge) got things going with an 8-6 win. The second tandem of sophomores
Jack August (Medford, NJ/Home Schooled) and
Mike Stanley (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) then cruised 8-0, before freshmen
Sean Fernandez (Emerson, NJ/Bergen Catholic) and
Chris D'Agostino (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) won 8-2.

The team kept going in the singles portion of the match picking up five more points. Cooper, August and Buchbinder won in the first through third positions, while Fernandez and Stanley joined the list of double winners claiming victories in the fifth and sixth spots.

TCNJ will look to grab its 10
th win of the season on Tuesday, April 14 when they host Muhlenberg College at 4 p.m.
