Salisbury, MD… The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team secured its biggest win of the season as the Lions played at Salisbury University on Sunday and came away with an impressive 10-3 victory.

The win was the seventh straight for 14
th-ranked TCNJ as they moved to 10-2 on the season. The loss dropped the sixth-ranked Sea Gulls to 11-3 and brought an end to their 48-game home winning streak.

While the final score indicated how well the Lions played, the performance they turned in during the opening 30 was nearly flawless. TCNJ shutout Salisbury in the half and scored five times to build a modest cushion. The Lions also doubled up the Sea Gulls on draw controls, collecting four of the six in the period.

TCNJ outshot Salisbury 12-3 in that time frame and the only two shots the home team was able to get on goal, Lion keeper
Kelly Schlupp (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) was there to deny the scoring bid.

Senior
Kendal Borup (Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) opened the scoring in the first half 4:25 into the contest, while just over four minutes later sophomore
Mia Blackman (Arlington, VA/Field School) made it 2-0.

Back-to-back scores by senior
Ava Fitzgerald (Merrick, NY/Calhoun) and classmate
Erin Healy (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) pushed the margin to 4-0, before Borup added one more goal before the break for that 5-0 lead. The final goal of the period came with an even nine minutes remaining.

In the second half, the Sea Gulls came out quickly getting their first score of the game 3:01 into the new frame, but the Lions had a quick answer. Fitzgerald scored her second of the game 50 seconds later to regain that five-goal advantage.

Borup and another goal Fitzgerald gave TCNJ its biggest lead of the game at 8-1 with 19:14 showing on the clock.

The teams then traded goals until Blackman capped off the scoring with 1:45 left.

Borup and Fitzgerald each finished with three goals and Blackman netted a pair.

The best defensive team stat for the Lions was they held the Sea Gulls to a season-low three goals. Heading into Sunday's game thee fewest goals they had scored in a contest was eight. Defender
Elizabeth Morrison (Stonington, CT/Stonington) collected three ground balls and caused two turnovers, while senior
Lauren Karpovich (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) also forced a pair of turnovers.

The Lions return home on Wednesday, April 15 when they take on top-ranked Trinity (CT) College at 7 p.m. in Lions Stadium.
