Fitzgerald gets 100th career goal as Lions top Rowan

Ewing, NJ… Senior Ava Fitzgerald (Merrick, NY/Calhoun) scored a game-high six goals to surpass 100 career goals as The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team posted a 12-4 victory at Rowan University on Tuesday.

TCNJ remained undefeated in New Jersey Athletic Conference play with the win as they are 3-0 and pushed its conferencing winning streak to 26 straight. Overall, the 14th-ranked Lions are 8-2.

The loss dropped the Profs to 1-1 in league play and 4-5 overall.

The hosts netted the initial goal of the game, but Fitzgerald scored the next three in 5:35 to put the guests in front 3-1.

Senior Kendal Borup (Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South), junior Cortney Natalicchio (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) and another goal by Fitzgerald quickly turned the advantage in favor of TCNJ at 6-1.

The Profs did get two late goals before Borup scored again making it a 7-3 game at the break.

Rowan made it 7-4 early in the second, but TCNJ shut the door and scored the final six goals. After that goal by the Profs, the Lion defense held them scoreless 28:41.

Fitzgerald scored with 24:11 left in the half for her 100th career goal and minutes later added another later on for good measure.

She finished with six goals for the second straight game and has 34 on the season. In 31 career games in a Lion uniform, she has 101 goals and 112 points.

Borup also had a nice game with five goals and senior Erin Healy (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) dished out three assists.

Senior Lauren Karpovich (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and sophomore Jaclyn Douglas (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) both played a solid defensive game as they both caused three turnovers.

Sophomore keeper Kelly Schlupp (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) picked up the win between the pipes with four saves.
