New Haven, CT…. The College of New Jersey men's swimming and diving team opened its regular season with a convincing 168-118 victory over Division II Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday in New Haven, CT
Senior
Andrew Nesbitt (Somerset, NJ / St. Joseph's), junior
Chris O'Sullivan (Lebanon, NJ / Voorhees), freshman
Harrison Yi (Tenafly, NJ / Tenafly), and senior
Scott Vitabile (East Windsor, NJ / Hightstown) all won two individual events for the Lions. Nesbitt, Yi, and Vitable also teamed up with
Alex Skoog (Scotch Plains, NJ / Scotch Plain Fanwood) to take top honors in the 400 yard medley relay.
Nesbitt was first to the wall in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.81 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 47.56. O'Sullivan won the 100 yard breaststroke clocking in a time of 1:03.10 and the 200 yard breaststroke in 2:19.44. Yi finished first in the 500 yard freestyle (4:52.08) and also won the longest race of the day (1000 yard freestlye) in 10:03.84. Vitable took the 100 yard butterfly (52.89) and the 200 yard freestlye (1:45.69).
Skoog also won the 200 yard backstroke in 2:00.23 and freshman
Sam Maquet (Hillsdale, NJ / Pascack Valley) took first place for TCNJ in the 200 yard butterfly.
The Lions will open their New Jersey Athletic Conference Schedule, as the meet with Montclair State University this Friday October 28
th at 5 pm, at the TCNJ Aquatic Center.
