The Lions sported three sweeps in the 1,000 yard freestyle, the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Junior
Jason Ivins (Ewing, NJ / Notre Dame) with a time of 10:33.48, freshman
John Gregory (Clermont,NJ / Saint Augustine Prep) at 10.45.41, and sophomore
Logan Barnes (Columbus, NJ / Northern Burlington) in 10:47.85 hit first, second and third in the 1,000 free.
Junior
Anthony Gurrieri (Metuchen, NJ / John F. Kennedy) led the 100 free at 49.33, followed by sophomore
Chris O'Sullivan (Lebanon, NJ / Voorhees) in 50.22, and third place junior
Vince Masciandaro (Marlton, NJ / Cherokee) with a time of 51.52.
Senior
James Shangle (Highland Park, NJ / Highland Park) hit his personal-best time in the 100 yard backstroke, leading the Lions at 54.02. Freshman
Brendan Pilaar (Mahwah / Mahwah) and sophomore
Andrew Coe (Ellicott City, MD / Centennial) followed in at 58.28 and 1:02.26, respectively.
Gurrieri also contributed to the first place 400 yard freestyle relay with sophomore
Edgar Chew (West Deptford, NJ / Gloucester Catholic), sophomore
Ryan Hackett (Lincoln Park, NJ / DePaul Catholic,) and freshman
Angelo Stefani (Columbus, NJ) in 3:21.43.
The 400 yard medley relay took top honors with a time of 3:32.06. O'Sullivan, Ivins, freshman
Alex Skoog (Scotch Plains, NJ / Scotch Plains Fanwood), and junior
Scott Vitabile (East Windsor, NJ / Hightstown) combined to top the field in the event.
Skoog and Vitabile hit first-place marks of their own, with Skoog in the 50 free at 21.94 and Vitabile in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:53.53.
Junior
Ryan Gajdzisz (Scotch Plains, NJ / Scotch Plains-Fanwood) recorded his personal-best time in the 100 yard backstroke, touching the wall at 58.34.
The Lions head into the post season next weekend at the Metropolitan Conference Championship at Rutgers University in Wayne, N.J. from Friday, Feb. 19-21.
