By Julie Kayzerman '16Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team (12-1) blanked Rutgers-Camden (7-4) by a score of 15-0 in Lions Stadium on Tuesday night.
It only took the third-ranked Lions 4:27 to score their first point from senior attacker
Cortney Natalicchio (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt).
Within just 2:26 following Natalicchio's mark, freshman midfielder
Erin Harvey (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and senior midfielder
Megan Devlin (Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) added two more goals to put the Lions up, 3-0.
The Lion's offense continued to dominate the Raptor's defensive zone throughout the game. Harvey struck again with 22:18 remaining in the half, followed by a quick goal from sophomore attacker
Emily Kratz (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) off an assist from sophomore
Amanda Muller (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) to widen the Lion's lead, 5-0.
With the Lions up 6-0 after another Natalicchio tally, the Raptors took possession of the ball, charging the TCNJ defense. However, Rutgers-Camden was unsuccessful in their offensive attempt as junior defender
LeeAnn Bak (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) grabbed a groundball and sprinted it down the field before dishing it off to junior
Mia Blackman (Arlington, VA/Field School) for the clear. Blackman fought her way past the Raptor's defense to re-start the Lion's scoring spree and up the contest, 7-0.
Natalicchio and Kratz each scored again to close out the half at 9-0.
The second half continued in similar fashion, kicking off with another Blackman goal and highlighting a dominant offensive performance from Devlin who notched two more goals for the hat trick. Devlin completed the night with five draw controls, three groundballs and three caused turnovers.
Muller added another goal and assist in the night and freshman
Kathleen Jaeger (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) and graduate student
Erin Waller drove in two more goals for the Lions. Sophomore
Elizabeth Morrison (Stonington, CT/Stonington) had another stellar game on the defensive end, causing four turnovers, three draw controls and three groundballs in the victory.
