Middlebury, V.T. – The College of New Jersey advanced in the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament with a 5-0 victory over Ramapo College at Middlebury College. With the win, their overall record improves to 11-6.

TCNJ took an early 3-0 lead when they swept in doubles.
Tim Gavornik (Millington, NJ/Watchung Hills) and
Matt Puig (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highland) posted an 8-0 victory in the third slot over Christopher Wong and Matt Talmage. A few minutes later, TCNJ doubled its lead when
Pierce Cooper (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and
Mitchel Sanders (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) tallied an 8-1 win over Adam Petrovics and Philip Fuster in the second flight.

The #1 duo of
Mike Stanley (Newton, PA/Council Rock North) and
Jack August (Medford, NJ/Home Schooled) completed the sweep with an 8-3 triumph over Ramapo's Willen Feygin and Matt Goldstein.

In singles matches, the Lions were victorious at second and third singles. In the third spot, Sanders earned the fourth point with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Petrovics. At #2, August clinched the match via a 6-1, 6-0 score over Goldstein.

A pair of matches on the courts went unfinished. Ramapo's Feygin was up by a set (6-2), but trailed in the second set 3-0 to Cooper at the top spot, while
Chris D'Agostino (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) grabbed the opening set by a 6-0 score and was up 3-0 score over Talmage in the fourth slot. The fifth and sixth singles matches didn't take to the court.

The Lions will now face Skidmore College (14-4) in the second round of the tournament tomorrow, May 14 at 3 p.m.
