Middlebury, V.T. – The College of New Jersey men's tennis team fell to Skidmore College in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament. The Thoroughbreds recorded a 5-2 victory to knock the Lions out of the competition.
In doubles action,
Pierce Cooper (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and
Mitchel Sanders (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) tallied the lone victory in the second slot for the Lions by a score of 9-8 (7-5).
Mike Stanley (Newton, PA/Council Rock North) recorded TCNJ's other point in the fourth singles spot with a 6-0 win in the first set and then a close 7-5 victory in the second set.
The Lions finish the season with an overall record of 11-7. This was the eighth time in the last nine seasons that TCNJ earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
