Madison, NJ … The College of New Jersey field hockey team put forth a dominant effort on Tuesday evening, defeating Drew University, 5-0 on its home turf in Madison, NJ.

The eighth-ranked Lions (3-1) outshot the Rangers 40-1 to roll to their second straight win. Freshman
Kayla Peterson (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) had a big night, scoring her first collegiate goal to open the scoring. She added a second tally to lead the TCNJ offense with a pair of goals. Sophomore
Caroline Quinn (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands) added a goal, while
Sidney Padilla (Suffern, NY/Suffern) and
Elizabeth Morrison (Stonington, CT/Stonington) also scored.

Early in the match, the Lions ran into a hot goaltender in Drew's
Ryann Callaghan. She stopped eight shots in the first 16 minutes of play before Peterson broke the ice with her first career goal off a redirect from
Danielle Andreula (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt). Callaghan turned back five more shots, but Padilla rattled the back of cage following up her shot at the 28:02 mark.

Just over a minute later, Morrison registered her second goal of the season, following up a shot by senior
Lexi Smith (Florence, NJ/Florence Twp.) that rebounded off of Callaghan.

Peterson made it a four-goal advantage in 44
th minute, taking a pass from Padilla off of a penalty corner from Quinn. Quinn capped the scoring after Smith blasted another shot that was saved by Callaghan. The goal by Quinn was the first of her career as the Lions moved to 3-1 on the season.

Senior
Kelly Schlupp (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) stopped the only shot she saw early in the opening period. She combined with junior
Christina Fabiano (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) to record TCNJ's third shutout of the fall. Callaghan finished with 26 saves in the game.

The Lions will be back in action on Saturday when they visit third-ranked Messiah College (3-1) for a 1 p.m. match-up.
