Meet Results

Baltimore, MD … The College of New Jersey men's swimming and diving team took the blocks against some stiff competition on Saturday, competing against Division II West Chester University and fourth-ranked Johns Hopkins University.

The 10th-ranked Lions fell to the Blue Jays 156-103 and also dropped a 172-90 decision to the Golden Rams. Freestyle events were the strong suit for TCNJ in tri-meet. They captured the 200-free relay and also claimed the top two spots in the 50-free.

Junior Adam Coppola (Kearny, NJ/High Tech), senior Ryan Gajdzisz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood), sophomore Alex Skoog (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood), and senior Andrew Nesbitt (Somerset, NJ/St. Joseph's) posted a winning time of 1:26.01 to top the field in the 200-free relay.

Coppola also copped a first-place finish in the 50-free. His fastest time of 21.60 was followed by senior Phil Binaco (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro), who finished runner-up in 22.13.

Freshman Harrison Yi (Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) registered a second-place finish in the 200-free. He touched the wall in 1:44.61. Skoog was a runner-up finisher in the 200-backstroke with a time of 1:56.73. He also placed third in the 100-back (53.93), while sophomore John Gregory (Clermont, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) was fourth in 54.98.

Coppola, Nesbitt, Vitabile, and Gajdzisz joined forces to place third in the 200-medley relay. They posted a time of 1:36.50. The annual tri-meet was hosted by Johns Hopkins this year.
