Reading, PA… The College of New Jersey field hockey team rebounded with a 7-1 victory over Albright College Tuesday afternoon. Sixth-ranked TCNJ improved to 12-3, while Albright dropped to 8-7.
TCNJ jumped out to an early lead when
Elizabeth Morrison (Stonington, CT/Stonington) scored her 12
th goal of the season off an assist from
Tori Tiefenthaler (Freehold, NJ/Biotechnology/Freehold Borough).
Sidney Padilla (Suffern, NY/Suffern) extended the lead, scoring a goal off a penalty corner after the insert by
Caroline Quinn (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands).
Cayla Andrews (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) rounded out the first half scoring with a goal off a feed from Morrison.
TCNJ picked up right where they left off in the second half.
Kayla Peterson (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) scored just over three minutes into the second half. Then all three first half goal scorers repeated that feat in the second half. Morrison, Padilla, and Andrews scored in succession to push the lead to 7-0.
Albright scored off a penalty corner in the 68
th minute to produce the final score.
TCNJ out-shot Albright 24-4.
TCNJ returns home for their regular season finale Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM against Eastern University. The Lions will Play 4 The Cure and all proceeds from the game will go to benefit cancer research. Prior to the game the team will honor its senior class.
