Lions Top Century Mark in Conference Win

Glassboro, NJ…The College of New Jersey men's basketball team went over the century mark for the first time this season earning a 104-92 win at Rowan University Wednesday night. The Lions win their seventh straight to move to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in league play, while the Profs drop to 5-1 overall and 3-1 In the NJAC.
 
The Profs got hot from behind the arc early. Nick DePersia and DaRon Curry each hit three pointers as Rowan raced to an 8-3 lead. Curry scored 24 points in the loss.
 
Trailing 17-13, the Lions scored eight straight points with four by Eric Murdock, Jr. (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater) to capture the lead for the first time. Murdock, Jr. finished with a game-high 32 points.
 
After the Profs tied the score at 28, TCNJ went on an 11-2 run sparked by a Randall Walko (Somerville, NJ/Somerville) and-one. Walko finished with a career-high 28 points to go along with a career-high 13 rebounds for his second career double-double.
 
With TCNJ holding a 40-39 lead, Niall Carpenter (Westampton, NJ/Westampton) hit a lay-up then Murdock, Jr. scored the team's final seven points of the opening frame, capped by a three-pointer at the first half buzzer to give the Lions a 49-42 advantage at the break.
 
With the lead narrowing to four points, TCNJ went on a 14-6 run, pushing the lead to double digits on a corner three by Mike Walley (Yardley, PA/Notre Dame) followed by a Walko lay-up.
 
The Lions pushed the lead as high as 15 on a lay-up by Jordan Glover (Trenton, NJ/Lawrence) with 4:22 to go. Glover scored 12 points to go along with eight boards.
 
Murdock, Jr. went 4-for-4 from the line and Walko hit a pair from the charity stripe to secure the victory.
 
Jeff Haddock led the Profs with 25 points in the loss.
 
The Lions out-rebounded the Profs 43-30 including an 11-3 edge on the offensive glass.
 
The Lions return home for a game against New Jersey City University Saturday. Game time is 3:00 PM.
