Messiah Open Brackets
Grantham, PA…The College of New Jersey wrestling team competed at the Messiah College Open Saturday. While there was no team score at the event, several TCNJ student-athletes had solid performances.
The Lions were led by
Kyle Cocozza (Farmingdale, NJ / Howell), who earned a third place finish at heavyweight. Cocozza won his first two matches in the main draw, then was victorious twice more in the consolation bracket to finish the day 4-1.
Ryan Erwin (Milford, NJ / Deleware Valley) earned a fifth place finish at 141-pounds. Erwin ended the day 3-2.
Sigala Fosam (Robbinsville, NJ / Robbinsville) won four matches in the consolation bracket to fight his way to a seventh place finish at heavyweight. Fosam finished the day 5-2.
Marcus Sherrod (Fairfield, CT / Fairfield Ludlowe),
Kyle McIntyre (Mount Laurel, NJ / Lenape), and
Sean Tonry (Trenton, NJ / Robbinsville) all placed at 157-, 165-, and 184-pounds respectively.
The Lions travel to Delaware Valley University Friday, February 10 at 7:00 pm. Then return home Saturday, February 11 at 12:00 pm for their final dual match of the year. Prior to Saturday's dual, the team's seniors will be honored.
