Erwin captured a fifth place finish at 141-pounds

TCNJ competes at Messiah College Open

Messiah Open Brackets

Grantham, PA…The College of New Jersey wrestling team competed at the Messiah College Open Saturday. While there was no team score at the event, several TCNJ student-athletes had solid performances.

The Lions were led by Kyle Cocozza (Farmingdale, NJ / Howell), who earned a third place finish at heavyweight. Cocozza won his first two matches in the main draw, then was victorious twice more in the consolation bracket to finish the day 4-1. Ryan Erwin (Milford, NJ / Deleware Valley) earned a fifth place finish at 141-pounds. Erwin ended the day 3-2.

Sigala Fosam (Robbinsville, NJ / Robbinsville) won four matches in the consolation bracket to fight his way to a seventh place finish at heavyweight. Fosam finished the day 5-2. Marcus Sherrod (Fairfield, CT / Fairfield Ludlowe), Kyle McIntyre (Mount Laurel, NJ / Lenape), and Sean Tonry (Trenton, NJ / Robbinsville) all placed at 157-, 165-, and 184-pounds respectively.

The Lions travel to Delaware Valley University Friday, February 10 at 7:00 pm. Then return home Saturday, February 11 at 12:00 pm for their final dual match of the year. Prior to Saturday's dual, the team's seniors will be honored.
