Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey lacrosse team defeated FDU-Florham 11-4 from a chilly Lions Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Kasey Donoghue (Mt. Laurel, NJ / Lenape) got the Lions on the board with her first career goal. Donoghue finished with a hat trick for the Lions. The Devils (1-1) responded when Frances Maggio scooped up a loose ball and scored on the breakaway opportunity.
The Lions (2-)) scored on three free position opportunities with back-to-back goals from
Kathleen Jaeger (Whitehouse Station, NJ / Hunterdon Central) and the final coming off the stick of
Mia Blackman (Arlington, VA / Field School). Jaeger then assisted Donoghue on a goal with 1.3 seconds remaining in the first half to extend TCNJ's advantage to 5-1.
The Lions pushed the lead to 9-1 on Jaeger's third of the game midway through the second half. TCNJ would take their largest lead of the game at 11-2 on the first collegiate goal by
Alexandria Fitzpatrick (Burlington, NJ / Northern Burlington).
Miranda Chrone (Moorestown, NJ / Moorestown) made two saves and collected five ground balls for the win in net.
Elizabeth Morrison (Stonington, CT / Stonington) collected a game-high seven ground balls.
Megan Nemeth recorded 13 saves for the Devils in a losing effort.
The Lions are back in action Tuesday, March 7
th at 7:00 pm when Cabrini University will make the trip to Ewing.
