Game Recap: Lacrosse |

Top ranked Lions continue win streak

Glassboro, NJ… The top ranked lacrosse team of The College of New Jersey extended their winning streak to six games with an 11-1 victory over Rowan University (8-5, 1-2 NJAC). The Lions (10-1, 3-0 NJAC) currently sit alone atop the New Jersey Athletic Conference standings.

TCNJ opened the scoring just under two and a half minutes into the game when freshman Alexandria Fitzpatrick (Burlington, NJ / Northern Burlington) found the back of the net for her seventh goal of the season. Fitzpatrick would go on to score her first career hat-trick. Classmate Allie Gorman (Sicklerville, NJ / Washington Twp.) added her 11th of the year to push the lead to 2-0.

The Lions offense continued to excel in the first half using goals from sophomore Kathleen Jaeger (Whitehouse Station, NJ / Hunterdon Central), junior Amanda Muller (Hillsborough, NJ / Hillsborough), sophomore Erin Harvey (Mt. Laurel, NJ / Lenape), and two from senior Mia Blackman (Arlington, VA / Field School), and the hat-trick goals from Fitzpatrick to amass a 9-0 halftime lead.

After the Profs got on the board in the second half, Gorman scored again to retain the momentum and assure no comeback was in the works. Jaeger added her team leading 31st goal to provide the final score.

The Lions out-shot Rowan 25-9 (22-6 on goal). Sophomore Miranda Chrone (Moorestown, NJ / Moorestown) made five stops to lower her season goals against average to just 3.59.

Blackman recorded five ground balls and two draw controls to lead TCNJ in both categories.

The Lions return to action Thursday, April 20 at 7:00 pm when they host Ramapo college in a game that was postponed earlier in the year due to inclement weather.
