Hoboken, NJ ... The College of New Jersey men's tennis team surged from behind to defeat Stevens Institute of Technology, 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lions (13-3) were swept at doubles, but rebounded to win five of six singles matches to secure the road win. TCNJ has now won six straight matches entering its final regular season dual match this weekend against St. Lawrence University. The Ducks fell to 6-12 this spring.

After falling behind 3-0, Jack August (Medford, NJ) registered a straight-set win at second singles. Omar Bokhari (Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsipanny) went down 2-6 in his first set, but responded with consecutive 6-3 set wins to earn a team point. That would be the clincher for TCNJ. Chris D'Agostino (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) rolled to a 6-3, 6-2 triumph before doubles mate Tim Gavornik (Millington, NJ/Watchung Hills) topped his opponent 7-5, 7-5.

At sixth singles, Gokul Murugesan (Edison, NJ/JP Stevens) netted a convincing 6-2, 6-2 straight-set victory en route to the Lions snatching a 5-4 outcome from Stevens.

TCNJ will play its final home match of the regular season at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The program will recognize its two seniors - Jack August and Mike Stanley - following men's match and prior to the women's match.
