Lions seniors play big part in senior-day victory

Senior Night

Ewing, NJ…
The College of New Jersey lacrosse team extended their winning streak to eight with a 13-0 win over Stockton University Tuesday night. With the win, the top-ranked Lions improve to 12-1 and 5-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, while the Ospreys drop to 9-4 and finish NJAC play 3-3.

On the night that the team honored their three graduating seniors, the fourth-year players stood out with dominating performances that punctuated their careers. Mia Blackman (Arlington, VA / Field School) kicked off the scoring with one of her team-high five goals, tying a career high. On the back end, LeeAnn Bak (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan) and Ellie O'Neill (Collingswood, NJ / Collingswood) allowed just one shot to reach the cage.

The youth wasn't left out of the action on senior night, freshman Olivia Cleale (Yardley, PA / Notre Dame (NJ)) assisted on three goals and scored one of her own. She currently leads the team in assists this season. Classmate Allie Gorman (Sicklerville, NJ / Washington Twp.) scored twice in the victory and sophomore Kathleen Jaeger (Whitehouse Station, NJ / Hunterdon Central) scored multiple goals for the tenth time this season, and now has a team-leading 35 for the year.

Sophomore Goalie Miranda Chrone (Moorestown, NJ / Moorestown) was clean in goal again for the Lions lowering her season goals against average to just 3.25.

Junior Elizabeth Morrison (Stonington, CT / Stonington) nabbed a team-high six draw controls and caused a team-high four turnovers. Morrison, Jaclyn Douglas (Malvern, PA / Great Valley), Brooke Lionetti (Malvern, PA / Great Valley), and Amanda Muller (Hillsborough, NJ / Hillsborough) each scooped three ground balls to lead the Lions.

TCNJ returns to action Saturday, April 29 when they travel to Kean University to close out the regular season.
