Ewing, NJ ... The College of New Jersey got back on track with a convincing 8-1 victory over Lafayette College on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions swept the doubles competition before winning five of six singles matches to topple the Division I Leopards (6-11). TCNJ is now 8-3 on the season and enters some stiff competition this weekend on a winning note.
Mitchel Sanders (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) and
Matt Puig (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highland) posted an 8-3 win at first doubles, while
Jack August (Medford, NJ) and
Mike Stanley (Newtown, NJ/Council Rock North) defeated their opponents by an identical score at second doubles. Sophomores
Tim Gavornik (Millington, NJ/Watchung Hills) and
Chris D'Agostino (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) completed the sweep with an 8-4 triumph.

Omar Bokhari (Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsippany), Gavonik and Stanley all won in straight sets. Stanley dropped just two games in his match-up.
This weekend, the Lions will face Ithaca College on Saturday and Franklin and Marshall College on Sunday. The match with Ithaca is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will be played at
Mercer County Park.
