Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's tennis team opened its abbreviated fall season on Sunday, hosting its annual Lions Kickoff Tournament.

The Lions laced up their tennis shoes to take on doubles teams from New York University, Stevens Institute of Technology and Dickinson College. Freshmen
Rahul Goculdas (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) and
Sean Reilly (Spring Lake, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) teamed up to win all three of their doubles match in their first collegiate competition. They captured their opening match against New York University, 9-7, defeated a duo from Stevens, 8-6 and won their third straight by a score of 8-4 over the Red Devils.

Matt Puig (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highland) and
Thomas Wright (Upper Saddle River, NJ/Upper Saddle River) and doubles team
Chris D'Agostino (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) and
Tim Gavornik (Millington, NJ/Watchung Hills) also posted two wins on the day. Junior
Achyuth Balijepalle (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge), Omar Bakhari (Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsipanny) and
Andrew Mok (Springfield, NJ/Robert E. Lee) all combined for two wins apiece on the day.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, September 23
rd when they visit Stevens to compete in the Stevens Tech Tournament.
