EWING, N.J. – The College of New Jersey field hockey team surrendered a goal just over five minutes into overtime, falling 2-1 to Montclair State University Saturday afternoon. The fourth-ranked Lions (10-2, 2-1 NJAC) saw their seven game winning streak snapped, while the eighth-ranked Red Hawks (14-1, 4-0 NJAC) extended a winning streak to seven games for the second time this season.

The Lions struck first when
Samantha Reed dribbled into the arc. A defender freed the ball onto the stick of
Cayla Andrews. Andrews pushed the ball ahead to
Tori Tiefenthaler who scored her 10
th goal of the season.

The Red Hawks responded less than five minutes later, Victoria Rossi chipped a ball over the top of the Lions goalie to tie the game.

Neither side could find the back of the cage again in regulation. TCNJ put constant pressure on the Montclair State defense, earning a 22-6 advantage in corners and 17-9 shot advantage during the game.

In the extra session, Montclair State used the additional space to create opportunities and it was Rossi again finding the back of the cage after getting behind the Lions defense.

Nicole Andriani made 12 saves for the Red Hawks in the win.

TCNJ returns to action Tuesday night when they travel to Glassboro, N.J. to take on Rowan at 7:00 p.m.
