GLASBORO, N.J. – The College of New Jersey field hockey team dropped their second straight game, falling to Rowan University 3-2 in a top-five showdown Tuesday night. The fifth-ranked Lions dropped to 10-3 on the season and are 2-2 in the NJAC. The fourth-ranked Profs remain unbeaten at 15-0 and are 5-0 in conference play.

Cayla Andrews got the Lions on the board early. The junior gained possession and streaked down the right sideline before entering the arc and beating the Profs goalie in the seventh minute.

Rowan controlled play in the remainder of the half, but five saves from
Maddie Beaumont kept the Lions in front.

The Profs broke through early in the second half, scoring on a pair of corners to take the lead. First scoring on a blast from the top of the arc by Rachel Galante, then on a shot by Casey Wanger.

The Profs got an insurance goal on another corner with just 16 minutes remaining. After the initial insert got by the stopper, Galante made a re-entry pass into the arc and Julie Johnson converted the opportunity.

TCNJ fought back with a great individual effort by
Kayla Peterson. Peterson dribbled into the arc, spun past a defender and beat the goalie five-hole to cut the deficit in half.

Beamont made a career-high 10 saves for the Lions.

Rowan out-shot TCNJ 29-8 and earned 14 corners to just one for the Lions.

The Lions will remain on the road Saturday when they travel to Kean University for a 5:00 p.m. start.
