UNION, N.J. – The College of New Jersey field hockey team snapped a two-game skid, exploding for a 5-0 win over Kean University Saturday night. The Lions improved to 11-3 on the year and 3-2 in the NJAC. The Cougars dropped to 7-10 and are 1-4 in conference play.

The Lions came out firing, scoring just six minutes into the game.
Tori Tiefenthaler saw a shot deflect off the post and after a scramble in front of the net,
Cayla Andrews gave the Lions an early lead. TCNJ would extend the advantage three minutes later with
Jordan Allegretto scoring off a penalty corner. Andrews would find the back of the cage again before the opening frame was finished to put the Lions up 3-0 at the half.

The Lions again put the penalty corner to good use in the second half. Kayla Paterson scored her team leading 13
th of the season just under two minutes into the second half. Peterson then assisted on the Lions final goal of the day, ripping a shot that
Iris Schuck deflected into the game.

TCNJ out-shot Kean 18-8 and
Maddie Beaumont made four saves to earn the shutout.

The Lions return home Tuesday when they play host to Cabrini University. Pushback is set for 7:30 p.m.
